The porosity in kneaded castings can be classified into isolated porosity, intrusive porosity, and reaction porosity. During the formation of shrinkage and porosity in castings, the release of gases often accompanies the process. The porosity is related to the shrinkage. If the gas content in the alloy is too high or if there is excessive gas intrusion during the filling of liquid metal, it can exacerbate the aforementioned shrinkage or porosity components. Analysis of the pick teeth reveals that the porosity distribution is random, with relatively large pores, mostly spherical or globular in shape.
