小松挖掘机斗齿基体材料大多数为奥氏体组织高锰钢（钢号ZGMn13），因此在焊接修复时选用型号为EDMn-B-16（牌号D266）高锰钢堆焊焊条。这种焊条的填充金属为奥氏体组织高锰钢，并且填充金属中还添加了钼，从而提高了焊缝金属的抗裂性和耐磨性，因此使用该焊条的堆焊后的斗齿表面具有加工硬化、韧性高和耐磨性好的特点，堆焊金属表面硬度可以达到HB≥170。
由于ZGMn13属于高碳钢其焊接性比较差：一方面是在焊接热影响区中容易析出碳化物从而引起材料脆化；另一方面是焊缝热裂纹倾向较为严重 ，特别是在近焊缝区容易产生液化裂纹。所以施焊前，须制定合理的焊接工艺，以保证堆焊金属层的质量减少焊接缺陷的产生。
